About Dr Nicola Meintjes
Dr Nicola Meintjes is a general practitioner with a special interest in psychiatry. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2016 at the University of Stellenbosch and the Diploma in Mental health from the College of Medicine of South Africa in 2021. She is currently also busy completing a postgraduate diploma in medical toxicology.
She is an experienced mental health care doctor who enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. She spent one year working as a medical officer in psychiatry on the north coast in KZN, and has since had a further 3 years experience working as a psychiatric medical officer in Paarl. This work included managing children and adolescents as outpatients, and teens and adults as both outpatients and inpatients.
She is passionate about working with children and adolescents with conditions such as ADHD, ASD, depression and anxiety in a holistic way, involving all members of the multidisciplinary team including educational psychologists, OT's and teachers. Her special interets also include supporting patients who have experienced trauma and are struggling with conditions such as PTSD, as well as supporting mothers, being a first time mom herself.
Nicola enjoys running, taking her dogs for a walk, visiting game parks and bird watching together with her husband.
